2 Yoga Breathing Techniques to Cool Down

The Cooler

Called Sitali breathing, this way of breathing can be used to cool down the body in hot weather and also to relax the mind.

Open the mouth and curl the tongue lengthwise. If you can’t curl your tongue, simply bring the tip of your tongue against the back of your top teeth.

Inhale through the mouth while slowly tipping the head back.

Close the mouth, relax the tongue and exhale through the nose while you bring your head forward toward your chest.

Don’t do more than 5 round of breathing at first, because if you’re not used to it, it may makes you dizzy.

The Soother

This way of breathing will have an efficient calming effect. Inhlae through the nose, gently but fully, hold the breath in for 3 to 7 seconds. Then, exhale through nose completely and hold the breath out for 3 to 7 seconds.

Do three to five rounds.
